It's Time To Bring Back Bobby
We - and by we, I mean me and thousands of other Hoosier fans - have officially given up on Kelvin Sampson. Not IU basketball, mind you, but Kelvin Sampson.
Quite simply, we don't do "major violations" at Indiana University. There is no need to. The Hoosiers have won national championships in four separate decades, gone to Final Fours in six separate decades and even made a national championship game with Mike Davis as coach.
Therefore, we are looking for a new coach. And instead of boring our handful of loyal Cubs readers with IU basketball news just as pitchers and catchers report, all Hoosier-related posting will be done at the latest addition of the Wrigleyville23 family: BringBackBobby.
(And, no, we don't think it will happen - or even that it should happen. But, hey, he's available.)

Rumors are swirling around Baton Rouge that Coach Knight would be welcome to coach LSU.Those numbnuts should do the right thing.

From 1987:LSU faced No. 1 seed Indiana in the Elite 8. LSU was in control for most of the game, and had a 9-point lead with 5 minutes remaining. But Indiana mounted a furious comeback, and defeated LSU in a 77-76 heartbreaker. After the game, Indiana coach Bob Knight was asked if he was worried when LSU went up by 9. He responded, "I was worried about losing until I looked down the floor and saw Dale Brown."

UGH. I'm so disgusted with Kelvin Sampson. He's either incapable of staying clean or the dumbest human on the planet or BOTH.

Wrigleyville, I was worried about you when I heard the news about Kelvin, but I'm glad to see you're actually sanguine about his departure. What a blunder it was to hire him in the first place. IU basketball deserves better than this. Why putz around with a guy who has violated NCAA rules when you can go snag whomever's the latest guy at Butler, Xavier, Southern Illinois, etc.?This will make Illinois fans even more bitter about losing out on Eric Gordon. Sampson should be fired immediately. Hell, if they canned Bobby Knight, they can can this guy.

he's coaching tonight against UW tonight, hawk, so it won't be immediately immediately. if they are going to act, i imagine they are checking in with DJ and Gordon and Co. to make sure they don't do anything rash.or they'll ride it out to april and then do it. one would hope.

I think this is one of those times where the administration approaches the head coach and hints every so subtly,"Hey Sampson, how about fucking resigning, okay? Capeesh?"

yeah, i imagine he won't want to walk because he would leave money on the table. but - and this is a big but - his contract is pretty clear on firing for cause due to violations.so, yes, he should resign and encourage players to focus on playing for dakich the rest of the year, doesn't want to be a distraction, etc. maybe a little settlement.
