Deep Breath

Nobody panic. There's still 160 games left. Plenty of time to turn this ship around.
We are talking about the Cubs afterall. No one ever said we were going to make winning easy.

Just want to make sure no one's jumping on the doom-and-gloom wagon so soon. Otherwise, we'll just sound like Brewers fans (actually, they're up there thinking they're going to the Super Bowl, errrr World Series, after winning two games.)

We'll get them tomorrow. If not tomorrow. Then the next game. Or the one after that. Or maybe the one after that. Anyway, the Cubs will be Great in 2008! Keep the faith!

Oh, I think you Cubs fans have perfected the gloom and doom overreactions. Leave Brewers fans out of this. I heard the Cubs "faithful" booing today. It's game 2!

No, Brewer fans perfected it last year when they spent their several months in first place just ringing their hands over how they were "blowing it." Only time I can recollect a team's fans calling for firing their manager while their team was in first place. And eventually they did blow it.But Cubbie fans, particularly the corporate fans who "boo" -- those aren't the "faithful booing" -- are susceptible to the gloom, too. Thus my cautionary post and plea for calm. And the Gano bashing by previous contributors to this blog is clearly justified. He's already doom-and-glooming it with the lead in his story today. Per Gano, well, after two games the Cubs can forget about ending 100 years without a World Series championship. But then again, Gano came out of Milwaukee, too.BTW, my intention isn't to bash Milwaukee. I really do love the city and Wisconsin. Just like to have fun with Brewers fans.

Ya know what is funny...For Howry being the "best reliever on the team"... it sure was great use of him pitching essentially mop up duty today. Why the hell was he pitching the 8th and into 9th inning when they are down 4 runs???? Pineilla is a moron.

Why is he pitching in that game? To get him some work in a game that doesn't matter. If he's going to struggle early like they think then you obviously use him in the spots you think is best. I think the Cubs hoped he would be fine on Opening Day, but probably won't take too many chances at this point. I'm perfectly fine with it. Good idea actually.

kpanz - the same reason houston street pitched an inning today when the A's were down 5-0 to the sox. not because he blew a save his first time out, but because pitchers need to pitch just as hitters need to hit."getting work in" is the phrase, i believe.

Brewers 2-0Cubs 0-2Brewers fans are not taking this as anything more than 2 games. Unlike you Cubs fans. Sorry hayseeds, but the truth hurts.

For the record WV, I used to work in Oak Creek. I can't in good conscience defend the OC against anything you say......mostly because it's all true.
