Jim Edmonds, Making Himself At Home
I suppose it's time to revisit the "I-can-never-cheer-for-Jim-Edmonds" mentality, huh?
CHICAGO -- Who would've imagined Jim Edmonds getting a standing ovation at Wrigley Field? Edmonds was cheered not once, but twice in the fourth inning Saturday. And the folks in the bleachers in Cubs' colors, who have apparently forgotten that he wore St. Louis red, applauded again as he took the field in the fifth. "It's always a strange feeling when you see people bowing to you," Edmonds said. "It's a great thing to be a part of, and I'm having a lot of fun."
More fun than in San Diego:.
Jim Edmonds, Padre: 90 ABs, .178/.265/.233, one home run, six RBI, two doubles.
Jim Edmonds, Cub: 74 ABs, .311/.358/.581, four home runs, 16 RBI, six doubles, triple.
Perhaps the Padres gave up too early. Or maybe Jim just really likes Chicago. Whatever. It has worked. So far. For now. To date.

The Sports section in the Tribune this Sunday was pretty much the "We love Jim Edmonds" edition, which made me a little nauseated, but I'm starting to at least be tolerant of his presence on the team. Maybe with time I will actually like the kid, but for now, tolerance is the best I can do.
