Josh Hamilton, American Bad Ass
If nothing else, Josh Hamilton made the Home Run Derby relevant again. Good stuff.

I'm sort of turned off by all the heroin and whatnot. How good would the Rays be with Sober Josh Hamilton patrolling the outfield?

I'm sort of turned off by all the heroin and whatnot.LMAO. Probably not the guy I'd want dating my daughter (if I had one). How good would the Rays be with Sober Josh Hamilton patrolling the outfield? That would be insane. Crawford-Hamilton-Upton. And they still had Delmon Young and sent him packing. The Rays have done a great job stocking their minor league system. I guess ten years of being awful can be something good.

If nothing else, I want him to succeed more because he is an addict. And by succeed I don't mean hit a baseball a long way - but to have his life in a place that he can hit a baseball a long way for a long, long time. In that, I am a big fan of Josh Hamilton.

but to have his life in a place that he can hit a baseball a long way for a long, long time. I think the fact that he has been able to get back to playing at this level is just outstanding. As a human being you want to see a guy like this do well and stay clean. He is one helluva talent.

There is so much to like about this story; I concur with WV, this is bigger than sports. Defeating one's inner demons is a great accomplishment, anytime, anyplace. And "new favorite man crush" nails it for me, too. ;-)

Can't believe he went like 3 years without even seeing a pitch, to where he is now. Crazy. You see him laugh at those pitches? I remember back in the day Mike Piazza (maybe the best hitting catcher ever) go O'fer in the derby. Hamilton made it look like a walk in the park.
